The Last Stand

Today we embark on the adventure of the Florida Primary. In just a few short weeks, we will begin our adventure across 20 states for Super Tuesday. My prediction is that Rudy will most likely drop out if he is unable to perform well in Florida. If he were able to, a different story may be written. At the end of Super Tuesday all the remaining candidates will have to begin looking at their campaigns and seeing what they can possibly change about it, if anything. For some, it will be the end of the road. And yet for others, and possibly just one, it is the beginning of yet another long campaign.

Although I was not a fan of Fred Thompson, soley because of his moderately social stances, as well as his inability to have an effective campaign. Thompson did make a good point in the South Carolina Debate. Thompson understood that this nomination process for the Republican Party is not about Leadership, it's not about Security and it isn't about Foreign Policy. This nomination is about the heart and soul of the Republican Party. It is about the direction our nominee will take us in. Which Direction do you choose?

On one side you have the Giuliani campaign. Rudy is still living in 9/11. Rightly so, that's what made him famous. Rudy has some good characteristics about him though. His ability to fight crime and unite both parties is what makes a good leader. But Rudy has more cons about him then pros. Rudy is for abortion. Rudy sued dozens of Gun Manufactures while Mayor. Rudy marched in Gay Pride Parades. And Rudy's Immigration Stance is one of the worst. Is this the man we want to see become the head and director of our Party and its values?

We then have Ron Paul. An isolationist who believes everything we have done is wrong. Ok, let's understand something. Yes, American is too involved with world affairs. We need to do more at the home front. But isolating us from the rest of the world will cause us more problems. It may not have if we started out that way. But we didn't, so to take that path now is too dangerous for our soldiers, and too dangerous for us at home. You then have Ron's stance on Taxes, he is one of very few who have always voted to lower taxes and never raise them. But then Ron goes on to want to demolish the FBI, CIA, NSA....I mean, what the heck is this guy thinking?? Does he honestly believe that getting rid of such departments, despite corruption will help our country's needs? Simple, No. Then you have the supporters of Ron Paul. If you don't like the guy, they don't like you. They will fight and fight and fight until they have won you over and if they do not. They will set out to criticize everything you do, regardless of what it is. This is the biggest reason, Ron Paul will not win the nomination. Because his supporters cannot divide loyalty and radically.

Mitt Romney, good ole' Mitt Romney. Looks Presidential, Sounds Presidential but isn't Presidential. It's like one of the TV adds that will "change your life forever," then when you get it, it does what it says, but not the way you thought it would. Turns out to be a waste of money. I am one of the few who believe that Mitt was always Pro-Life, I believe he was Pro-Gay Marriage Ban, and I believe he supports the Second Amendment. But I believe Mitt can also sacrifice his beliefs to get something accomplished. For instance, he was willing to be against the Conservative Values of our Party in order to be elected Senator and then Governor. Now, Mitt was an ok Governor. When it came to Immigration, he wasn't that great. But the social issues was one of the greatest. But my argument with Mitt is how will he opperate when Democrats or "republicans" come into his Oval Office to present him with ideas and agendas that will cause him to have to sacrifice Conservatism. Will he do it? His history says he will. If it sounds good and convincing he'll change positions. And this can be dangerous. Do we need Presidents who are open to all ideas? Yes. But to be open to ideas that sacrifices the morals of an individual is never a good outcome. This alone is what turns me away from Mitt Romney.

Now for John McCain. McCain deserves credit for his service. That's about it. When a Republican chooses to socialize with a Democrat in Washington, two things will happened. #1: They will become Democrat or #2: They will get screwed. When you choose to socialize with Power Hungry Democrats, while at the same time hold on to your conservative values and morals. You will not last. It is a proven fact. Moderate Republicans cause more damage the Conservative and Christian GOPers. McCain's change of heart on Immigration shows him to be a weak coward towards the hispanic community. Illegal Votes anyone? McCain's Independent voters support is the only reason he is doing well. Once the race narrows down even more, McCain will have to do more to step up. But with funds low this will be hard. Even harder since his McCain-Feingold Campaign Finance Reform Act.

Finally we have Mike Huckabee. Christian, Family Values, the most conservative. Understands we cannot leave Iraq, but that there needs to be some kind of performance from the Iraqi Military. Understands that we need to help resolve problems at home, such as poverty, disease, low-income families etc. Before trying to do that elsewhere around the world. Mike Huckabee has been hammered for his tax issues. Even though the voters of Arkansas voted for them. He cut spending so much, that he was forced to raise taxes. Now for those who are anti-tax such as myself. This is a hard concept to swallow. But understand that he came into office with a screwed up system, he tried fixing it with conservative values. It worked, but not all he wanted to do was able to pass through the screwed up Legislatures. This is the fight conservatives have. Democrats won't work to keep taxes low, so they'll wait til you raise them to make their case. The tax issue has been debunked. Move on! Now his Immigration. Well, my friends. Unless, he has taken the more compassionate role on this issue. I am so tired of these radical "Conservatives" who fight him on this issue. The entire Hispanic Community is Democratic, no doubt. It's obvious Huckabee is not trying to win them over, he realizes that you cannot. Huckabee did something different, he said we should not punish the children for their parents mistakes or law-breaking acts. And he's right. Now, with that said, does that mean they should get more pleasures and aid then those who are here legally? Absolutely NOT. And if in fact that is how Mike Huckabee operated then he is wrong. But, we aren't going to actually no unless we were in Arkansas. So we are going to have to understand the hindsight of it. Then of course he was hammered with his faith. If a Republican confesses Christ as Lord and Savior, the media and Democratic Party is so riled up against them screaming "Separation of Church & State." Yet Clinton and Obama can go to all these churches across the country, stand on the pulpit and preach about Christ and talk about the "state of the nation" and everyone applause. See anything wrong with this picture? Finally, Huckabee was hammered for the Rape Convict he set free. I will not even honor this issue with a response.

There is no perfect candidate, Conservatism is falling. But it has not failed. We must choose one who will fight for us, and who will send the direction of the Republican Party the right way. Obviously I feel it is Mike Huckabee. Ask yourself the question I had to ask me. Who do you want not only leading and protecting our country. But directing our Party's direction either closer or further from our Values and Morals we have for so long held.
